In addition to being a SC category assembly seat and one of the 17 assembly segments of the Shimla (SC) Parliament Seat, Solan is under Solan district of Himachal Pradesh State, India. In this assembly, the dominant political party are BJP and INC. Both Dhani Ram Shandil, the current MLA of the assembly, Suresh Kumar Kashyap the district’s MP, were chosen to serve in that capacity. The 2011 Census report shows that SC and ST assembly goers, together with Muslim voters, rural voters, and urban voters, who make up around 1.6%, 67.15%, and 32.85% of the population, respectively, make up 30.22% and 0.78% of the assembly’s total voting population, respectively. A total of 84672 voters cast ballots during the 2019 Parliamentary Election at the 124 polling locations in the Solan assembly. Further, as of the 2019 election, 70.15% of Solan’s registered voters cast ballots for the assembly, rise from 67.22% in the previous one(2017). Dagahai, Dagshai, Simla, Kandaghat and Kohistan are the nearby Cities to Solan. Solan district is the catchment area of three important rivers of Satluj, Yamuna, and Ghagghar.
