About-Churah

Churah is one of the five Vidhan Sabha constituencies located in Chamba district and is a SC category assembly seat. It covers the entire Churah tehsil and Rajnagar Kanungo Circle of Chamba tehsil. It is part of Kangra Lok sabha constituency . In addition, the BJP and INC are the two main political parties in this assembly. Both Hans Raj, who is now the assembly’s MLA, and Kishan Kapoor, the district’s MP, serve in that body. Along with Muslim voters, rural voters, and urban voters, who make up around 10.6%, 100%, and 0% of the population, respectively, SC and ST assemblygoers make up 28.34% and 9.64% of the assembly’s overall voting population, on the report of 2011 Census. There existed 121 polling places for the Churah (SC) assembly as of the 2019 Parliamentary Election, and 73092 people cast ballots for the assembly. Additionally, 72.12% of eligible voters participated in the assembly in Churah(SC) as of 2019 election and 77.39% in 2017 did so.
